Let’s​ get our CHILL on!

Its time to launch my first monthly challenge as a self-care ambassador for My Health Storylines and I can’t wait to get started. Yoga has become my saving grace over the last few years, helping me stay calm during my cancer treatment and has led to me being fitter and more balanced all round. Starting my yoga teacher training course in May has shown me that there is so much more to the practice than mastering downward dog.

Meditation is where the real chill is at when it comes to Yoga, the benefits of meditation are endless but here are my top five….

1. Reduced stress and anxiety (my personal favourite)
2. Enhances feelings of love, joy, patience and empathy
3. You need less sleep as you are calmer
4. Helps you focus on the now and stop worrying about the past/future
5. Gives you clarity and focus making you more decisive
Boom! A pretty awesome list for just 10-20 mins of your time each day.

So now that I’ve convinced you that meditation is worth a little investment of time here’s our challenge!

To meditate every day for a month!

I recommend either doing it first thing for a calm start to your day or just before bed for a super restful sleep. Start with 5 mins and build up to 15 if you can. Try saying a mantra in your head or out loud to help you focus… I love ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ you can get examples on Youtube.
