The Best of Natural Beauty

My top 4 all natural, organic, vegan beauty products.

Going through treatment for cancer really made me want to discover more natural beauty and make up brands. When I got my diagnosis I questioned ‘why me’! I began to wonder if the products I was using everyday had caused a build up of chemicals in my body some how. I now realise that this is quite unlikely but having no risk factors for breast cancer made me think more carefully about what I was putting on my skin. During chemo I had so many chemicals swimming through my body I felt like opting to find more natural products just made sense and I actually found I often prefer them. The added bonus is that moving away from high street shops tends to mean I support smaller brands.

Over the last year I’ve tried out a whole host of natural brands, some I’ve loved and some I’ve literally turned my nose up at, lets just say there have been some interesting scents! So here’s four of my tried and tested favourites.

I came across Skintruth while going through Chemotherapy last summer. They spotted me recommending their nail oil on Instagram and sent me a lovely bundle of skin care goodies to try. This included their Soothing Cleansing Milk, Toner and Moisturiser. I have been using their brand ever since, the Soothing range was perfect for my poor chemo damaged skin and I love that their creams come in a pump action bottle to keep them germ free. At £28 for the whole skin care set they are very reasonable and available on Sallys, Salon Services and Amazon.

On my quest to find more plant based products I signed up for the Love Lula natural beauty subscription box a few months ago. I was delighted to receive a PHB all natural mascara one month, as the winner of Vogue Best Kept Beauty Secret award I knew it would be great and it is now one of my favourites. PHB kindly sent me some of their hair and body products to try which have convinced me to explore this fantastic brand more. The Restoring shampoo and conditioner smell like a dream and have been a god send for my bleached hair (I know this is far from a natural beauty choice but I’m not a saint). Especially as I use a purple shampoo a few times a week to ward off the dreaded warm tones which I find quite drying. PHB also give 20% of their profits to their charity OneLove Foundation so whats not to love.

Ballapierre specialise in 100% natural mineral make up. There paraben and cruelty free make up and skin care range won last years Natural and Organic award for best natural cosmetic product. I adore their Kiss Proof Lip Creme which gives a gorgeous matt finish colour that lasts for hours.  I’ve been a fan of mineral make for a long time and will definitely be trying more of their products. Their Peel off Lip stain is next on my wish list and is on offer at the moment for £14.50.

Isle of Mull Soap Co

Mull is a little island off the west coast Scotland which comes top of my favourite places in the world. I spent much of my childhood playing on its golden beaches and hunting for crabs in rock pools. So when my sister brought home a hand made soap as a gift  from a recent trip to Mull’s main town Tobermory I was delighted. Their traditional handmade cold pressed soaps come in a variety of divine fragrances and they also make a host of gorgeous creams, bath salts and candles.

I’m always on the look out for new natural brands so please tell me about your favourites.

I love each of these brands so much I made a Youtube video about each, pop over for a squzz.
